Restoring Files From Backup (Shared Drives, Sharepoint, and OneDrive)

Body

You have the ability to restore files on shared drives from backup. Want to restore from Sharepoint or OneDrive? Scroll down to the bottom.

Note: Snapshots are taken twice daily, but the snapshots only go back as far as 1 month for M: drives, and 6 months for shared drives.

1. Right click on the shared drive and click on Properties

2. Go to the Previous Versions tab, scroll through the list until you find a date that you know would have the missing file/folder and select it, then click open

3. It will open a new File Explorer window that contains all the files and folders that were in that shared drive on that date. You can go through and find the item, copy it, and paste it in the current live shared drive.

Restoring from Sharepoint or OneDrive

You can restore previous versions of files by yourself.

1. Go to the file's location in Sharepoint or OneDrive (online)

2. Right-click on the file in question, and select "Version History."

3. You will be given a list of backups that are available. Double-click on the one you wish to restore.
