Prerequisites: Hoxhunt button is available to M365 users who use the Outlook App.  This does not work in Outlook on the Web in a mobile browser.

  • Open Outlook App on your Android or iOS device.

  • Select the email you want to report.

  • Click three dots menu next to sender's name.

  • Look for Report this email.

  1. Camosun Cybersecurity button randomly disappears from your Outlook toolbar

Sometimes Outlook add-ins (including the Camosun Cybersecurity button) may suddenly go missing.

  • First, restart Outlook.

  • If the issue continues, please contact ITS for assistance.

  1. Reading Pane is turned off

Add-ins are only visible when the Reading Pane is enabled or when an email is opened in its own window.

  • Solution: Turn on the Reading Pane.

  • Workaround: If you don’t want to enable Reading Pane, open the email in a separate window.

  1. Verify that Optional Connected Experiences works properly

The Camosun Cybersecurity button requires “Optional Connected Experiences” to be turned on.

To check this setting:

  1. In Outlook, go to File > Office Account > Account Privacy.

  1. Select Optional Connected Experiences.

  1. Ensure the setting is enabled.

If it’s already enabled but the button is missing, try:

  1. Disable Optional Connected Experiences.

  1. Restart Outlook.

  1. Re-enable Optional Connected Experiences.

  1. Restart Outlook again.

  1. Check if Camosun Cybersecurity button is visible in other Outlook clients

If you can see the Camosun Cybersecurity button in Outlook on the Web and/or Outlook Mobile, please check if there are other add-ins or buttons missing from your Outlook Ribbon. If any are missing, please contact ITS for assistance.

Less Common Causes

  1. Metered Connection feature is turned on

Outlook add-ins (like the Camosun Cybersecurity button) may go missing if Metered Connection is turned on for your current network connection. For example, if you are using a mobile hotspot, Metered Connection might be enabled to reduce data transfer. This add-in behaviour is by Microsoft's design.

When connected to networks outside of Camosun College (i.e. home networks), this setting can be found under Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > The Wi-Fi network you are currently connected to > Turn off Metered Connection.

  1. Simplified Ribbon is turned on

If you have enabled Simplified Ribbon, the Camosun Cybersecurity button might be hidden behind the drop-down menus. For instructions on editing or turning off the Simplified Ribbon, see this Microsoft article.

  1. You are reporting from an unsupported mailbox

Outlook add-ins are designed to activate in the user's main mailbox and shared mailboxes via delegated. Add-ins do not activate in folders from other user's mailboxes, archive mailboxes, group mailboxes or public folders.

  1. Camosun Cybersecurity button hasn't been deployed to you

If you believe that the Camosun Cybersecurity button has not been deployed to you, please contact ITS for assistance.
